Yeah, it's nice to see the "oppose everything" knee-jerk reaction look silly.

My favorite is when the Democrats adopt one of the Republican positions. Then all of a sudden Republicans can't be for it any more :)

Look at all the grumbling about the Obama tax cuts.

But I guess we have much more of this silliness to look forward to next year.

And I am nearly certain that the integration of gays into the US military will likely be as smooth and seamless..

But the two words that concern me are "nearly" and "likely"...

What if I am wrong??

If just one soldier, sailor, airmen or marine dies because of this integration, the price is too high...

Obama has yet to clarify whether or not missile defense is part of the treaty..

Obama claims that missile defense is NOT part of the treaty. The Russians claim it IS part of the treaty..

Before ANYTHING gets approved, this discrepancy needs to be clarified...

If missile defense is part of the New START, then we need to tell the Russians to shove it..

It's that simple...

I've been meaning to post this quote for your reaction, so here goes. From the Pentagon report, where they studied the military of Canada, the UK, and Australia, who have all allowed gays in, on the transition:

"Uniformly, these nations reported that they were aware of no units that had a degradation of cohesion or combat effectiveness, and that the presence of gay men and lesbians in combat units had not been raised as an issue by any of their units deployed in Iraq or Afghanistan."

The question to me is, what's up with the Republican leadership?

They obviously supported the DADT repeal as well as the tax bill as well as (it seems) START. I say this because none of these would pass w/o support of Republicans.

They could easily block these as they did DREAM if they didn't support them.

Yet they're running around trying to say they're against it and screaming as if somehow all of this is out of their hands.

Yes Mitch McConnell, John Kyl, and Lindsey Graham, I'm talking about you.

OK, folks, we're nearing the end of the official "pledge match" season here, which turns into a pumpkin on Christmas Day (whoa, that was a metaphoric mixup... sorry).

The pledge drive total shot upward frantically at the beginning of the pledge drive, but has stalled somewhat recently. We're within a VERY small amount of reaching our goal this year, so I just thought I'd make a personal plea for last-minute donations this week. If you've got $5 or $10 you can throw our way, now is the time it will do the most good!

Let's see if we can meet our fundraising goal before Christmas Eve!
