too convenient to be legal?

"After an FBI probe, the company pled guilty to defrauding Medicare and paid a $1.7 billion fine, the largest in history. According to press reports Scott took the Fifth Amendment 75 times in this 2000 deposition." (from newsmax.com)

and this is the guy who's now our governor-elect, michale. THAT is too convenient to be legal.

OK, what does everyone think about Harry Reid's next move? Will he step down as Maj. Ldr. or will he keep his leadership job? I'm thinking he'll probably stay, but he could surprise me....

Ego won't let Reid step down...

He is much like Obama in that regard.. He won't admit when he is wrong..

Stepping down would be such an admission.

OK, just waking up and smelling the coffee (tea?) as it were, so I'll get to comments later (today's Obama Poll Watch day, so it'll be a busy one for me).

BUT, with no false modesty whatsoever, I see that CO has gone blue. With this news, I am now 36 for 36 in calling the Senate, with one race (WA) outstanding.

OK, Harry Reid surprised even me with the size of his victory, I'll admit. And those last five tossup races I truly didn't have a clue, and just got very, very lucky in picking them the way I did, I'll fully admit that, too.

But still, not a bad record, eh?

:-)

That's obvious from the polls that have been out there for months and months. The Independents who'd carried him over the line (along with a couple of million teenyboppers) abandoned him long, long ago. Yesterday was merely the day they got to make it official that the "change" they had voted for was not what they'd had in mind when they threw in for him.

That's what I don't understand about Obama. He is a smart guy and the writing has been on the walls for months.

So, why did he staunchly refuse to alter his agenda and stubbornly stay the course??

If it was anyone else, I would call it delusional..

But one doesn't get elected President Of The United States by being delusional...

...consider the possibility that Americans are really pissed off that it was the "Hope" and "Change" that was faux and misguided...

In other words, we were sold a bill of goods that was found wanting...

So ends the reign of Speaker Pelosi. {snicker} Boy, did she ever call that one wrong. I wonder if she's gonna retire. That was a pretty embarrassing defeat for her.

No, what matters is 2,000 Quatloos in my pocket. Heh.

:-)

Once again, bite me.. :D

If I am reading the maps right, there are still 13 House races in play. GOP has picked up 60 seats, so don't go spending that 1000 quatloos yet.. :D

But I have to give credit where credit is due. You called the Nevada Senate race quite handily..

Congrats :D

@CW

so far it looks like you were dead-on about the senate races. PA and IL look like they'll both be decided by less than a percent.

Oh, I'll take both those wagers.

Easiest 2,000 Quatloos I ever made...

Yea, yea, yea... Bite me.. :D

I may lose on the Senate.. But it's undeniable that Democrats lose the House in a big way..

The great thing is, Americans win..

And, in the end, that is all that matters... :D

Quatloo wager!!! :D

I am betting that the GOP picks up 72 seats overall in the House and, of the 21 Senate seats in play, the GOP picks up 16..

Say, 1000 quatloos on each prediction...

I AM glad to see President Obama walk back his rhetoric where he referred to Republicans as "enemies"..

Of course, it took prodding from soon-to-be Speaker Boehner for Obama to do it..

But that kind of rhetoric is beyond the pale and should be condemned by EVERY civilized person.

In WWII, Nazis were "enemies"...

These days, terrorists are "enemies"...

For Obama to cast fellow Americans into that grouping, solely because they simply disagree with Obama is pathetic and contemptible...

And it's especially egregious coming from the man who campaigned on the concept of being a President, not for the Red States or not for the Blue States, but for the UNITED States...

The silence on this from the Left, both hysterical and professional, is deafening and shows the wisdom of the saying, "All that is required for evil to succeed is for good people to remain silent"

Michale,

I guess where we differ is our view of what constitutes reality.

That is a fact.

As do I.. :D

I guess where we differ is our view of what constitutes reality.. :D

It's really simple. Obama didn't live up to his hype... Many Americans feel not only betrayed by Obama but angry that they were taken in..

Americans dared believe that they man behind the curtain could deliver..

Now those Americans are pissed at themselves for being so gullible. And, rightly or wrongly, Democrats are going to feel the brunt of that anger..

Michale,

You may approach it from any angle you choose. I prefer to view these things from a strictly reality-based point of view.

How do you stop a faux populist wave of ill-informed opinion and misguided anger from coming crashing down upon those largely responsible for inciting and enabling it?

Well, ANOTHER way to approach it is to maybe consider the idea that it ISN'T "faux" or "misguided" and consider the possibility that Americans are really pissed off that it was the "Hope" and "Change" that was faux and misguided...

In other words, we were sold a bill of goods that was found wanting...

On another note, CW...??? Are you going to do live blogging today???

You don't ... at least, not at this late stage. Unfortunately, it comes crashing down on the rest of us, too.

Well, I did my picks in a previous commentary, but I'll update them here... :D

Not that anyone needed any confirmation, but it looks like the House is safely GOP...

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2010/house/2010_elections_house_map.html

Even if ALL the tossups go Dem, the GOP will still have the majority in the House. Tomorrow the American people will fire Pelosi...

Couldn't happen to a more deserving person...

Over at the Senate, things are looking better for the GOP...

I estimate the odds that there is is a 60% chance that the Senate will go over to the GOP..

There is a 40% chance that the Senate will be split evenly at 50-50...

I'm also gratified to point out that INTRADE seems to agree with me and they have a great record in this regard..

Staying true to my prediction that was made many many MANY moons ago :D the Senate will go over to the GOP...

"Cue applause....."
