On another, sadder note..

America's greatest Dad, Tom Bosley passed away today at 83.

He will be missed..

Matt -

Actually, to everyone -

Matt's video is cool and well worth checking out, if you've never heard actual Tea Party rhetoric. I'd like to publicly thank Matt for attending and videotaping this rally. Check the video out!

:-)

OK, here you go. My #1 and #2 columns for HuffPost comments, both from the same week (I misremembered the order, and the numbers, a bit):

Neither was on the Tea Party, didn't get that right either. I seemed to have been heavy on ellipses that week...

Heh.

Kevin -

Offhand, I don't remember the article, but I bet I could find it pretty quickly. I got 850 comments on a Wednesday article (about 2 months ago, if memory serves) right after I had set a new record of 550 comments on Monday. I'm almost positive one was on Tea Partiers. Right now, I just got done dealing with the comments over at HuffPost, and it was around 440 and climbing...

Because while it's a whole lot of fun to wave signs at a rally, actually governing is a whole different story.

Yea, that's what Democrats found out.. :D

And they're going to arrive in Washington next January with the wind at their backs, and raring to go. But that's when things are going to get a little tricky.

{{cough}} {{cough}} Barack Obama {{cough}} {{cough}}

:D

It is said that politicians campaign in poetry and govern in prose. In other words, you can say anything you want out on the campaign trail, in as high-flown language as you'd like to use; but once the shouting is all over, it's often very hard (if not impossible) to make good on these promises when confronted with the way Washington actually works.

See above.. :D

So, as friendly advice from someone who has watched disillusionment grow on the Left since Obama got elected, I would caution the Tea Partiers now -- even if you have a great election night and see a bunch of Tea Partiers sweep into Washington, I would prepare to be disappointed on seeing the campaign rhetoric become political reality any time soon.

Yep, I have a feeling we're going to see the Right's version of "Hope" and "Change" play out nearly identical to what happened to the Left.

Oink,

Chris, the let-down is inevitable. You'll recall the video I took of three hundred tea party adherents screeching about federal spending in Huntsville, Alabama while standing underneath a giant mock-up of the Space Shuttle. The Republican tea party candidate whose sign appears in that video is Mo Brooks, and he has made much political hay out of promising to ban all Congressional earmarks. Problem: government activity (mainly space) is Huntsville's biggest employer and largely depends on earmarks. Basically, Mo Brooks is betting that people in Alabama's 5th congressional district will vote against their own district; and if he wins, he has promised to starve the district of federal money.

In either scenario, something has got to give way.

This, coming from the guy who said that conservatives were "dead" as a group and would never come back into power again..

:D

I believe someone told you different way back then..

Now, who was that??? Hmmmmmmmmm....

Oh yea... It was me!

Don't worry dood... I won't rub your nose in it....

Much.... :D

NY,

If the president foresaw the tea-party takeover, one has to wonder whether michale's conspiracy theory actually holds water.

Stranger things have happened.. :D

maybe Obama really is doing everything possible to put the republicans in charge after the mid-terms, so they'll muck things up royally and put him back in the catbird seat for re-election.

I am guessing that Obama has taken the wrong lesson from the Clinton/1994 saga..

He is setting himself up to be another Clinton dealing with Congress after the '94 mid-terms and, in turn, will allow himself (Obama) to be re-elected in 2012.

I think the fatal mistake that Obama is making is that these aren't our daddy's Republicans.

It's going to be a whole different dynamic is my prediction..

David,

Never fear Tea Partiers! A backup plan has been prepared. It's called blame everything on liberal communists!

It's always worked before. :D

The facts usually do... :D

November 3rd is going to be a very happy day for your's truly...

Which will definitely make up for that abomination of a Jags game last night... :(

Wow, tons of comments over at Huffpo. I just scanned through the 400 plus, and got a minor headache trying to understand the teabagger/libertarian rationales...Chris, offhand do you know which of your posts holds your Huffpo comment record?
