Glad to hear that. I only asked because I knew we would be in total agreement on that score. :)

That assessment was typical of what we have come to expect from the media. Tom Brokaw probably doesn't even know that it was a woman on that tape who suggested calling Meggles a whore for her behavior with respect to public employee unions and pension reform and what the former Goldman Sachs board member would do to get an endorsement.

Anytime race plays a factor in any decision or statement it is, by definition, "racist"..

This, of course, excludes discussions of racism itself.

Had the slur uttered had been the "c-word" that denotes a slag term for part of the female anatomy, THAT would have been comparable to the racial slur..

The Obama quote you originally provided here is wholly inaccurate which leads to your subsequent and completely false interpretation of what he was talking about.

Why do you insist on confusing and distorting the facts beyond all recognition?

While we should recognize the role that race plays in our society, you seem to be obsessed by it and eager to make it an issue when it clearly is not.

The summation of Obama's quote is accurate.

Obama stated that it was great that these Black bloggers were out there doing their thing because it allows them to reach the Black audience that "may not be watching Meet The Press"...

Regardless of whether or not you think the quote is racist, you simply cannot deny that if a Republican had said the same thing, the Left would have gone ballistic..

This is simply one more instance in a long line of incidents where Obama and Democrats have appealed directly to Blacks and Hispanics. Appeals that, had they come from the Right would have resulted in screams and cries of Racism...

While Obama was addressing a group of African-American bloggers, he was quite obviously talking about the 'new media' (ie. the wider blogosphere, including online media sites) when he spoke about who wasn't watching Meet the Press. There was absolutely nothing racist about it, whatsoever.

This is just another case of taking a quote and twisting it and turning it and making it out to be something that it is not. Your original quote above is what diminishes your credibility around here, sadly.

It is much the same as the racial and racist actions of the White House of late.. Appealing to Black and Hispanic voters. Holding Blacks Only news conferences...

Here's what I think is a good rule of thumb: When speaking about a female pol, pundit, or whatever the case may be, don't use the word "whore." Ever. That way, ya keep yourself out of political hot water, all together.

Well, that's extremely PC of you. Aren't you one of those who is always chastising anyone who succumbs to political correctness?

A lot of the reaction to the use of the word 'whore' and the context within which it was used is not only a bad case of political correctness but, in many cases, just another example of ill-informed, knee-jerk analysis.

I'm taking a vow to no longer use this term to refer to those who practice the time-honored profession of prostitution.

Only Congress-critters and lobbyists :)
