Getting back to the actual topic of the article:

I think Obama's first year cannot be called a success. it's not a total disaster, but it could certainly become one if he doesn't start to deliver on some of his campaign promises. being as he was a total newcomer to the executive branch and inherited a crapstorm, it's really not as bad as it may seem. however, there is definitely cause for concern. I call this the President's "training year," but now the training wheels come off, and he really needs to show us he can deliver.

In comparison, I call 2001 Bush's "training year" (and 9/11 the unfortunate result, which is why i don't blame him for the event). in comparison, Barack's first year was actually quite good, but that's not saying much.

I was looking for some kind of live feed for exit polling. Then I read articles that this became a real race too late to organize any decent exit polling apparatus. So I ran across this guys article on the washingtonpost.com web site which had his Tweets attached.

I figured it was better than nothing. :D

I still don't (or rather won't) tweet.

OK OK.. I'll give you one tweet..

"I tawt I saw a puddy cat.. I did I did tawt a puddy cat"
-Tweetie

:D

Sorry, bad one. :D

Here's my prognostication.

CrapCare is dead.

Democrats, seeing the writing on the brickwall, or rather having those tons of bricks falling on them, will come to realize that they DON'T have the American people on their side.

And they won't survive, politically, until the DO have the American public on their side.

CrapCare is dead.

Michale -

Did you just discover Twitter tonight, or what?

I have to quote the philosopher Archie Bunker here:

"Stifle!"

Heh heh.

Anyway, I have to admit, I was kind of surprised at the speed with which the race was called myself. But not too surprised, as that's what all the last minute polls indicated.

While I'll have more to say about this in coming days, for now I just have to say: tomorrow's column is special, and was planned in advance. So don't look for any commentary on MA there, you'll have to wait for Thursday for that. And as for tomorrow's comments, I end where I began (Michale, I am looking in YOUR direction):

Stifle.

Thursday, full license to unleash is granted. But give it a day, at least here. I think you'll see why tomorrow.

I am also constrained to point out that the myth of Obama's "prestige" is completely and utterly in the toilet.

Obama couldn't hit sand if he fell off a camel..

The only good news is that we just have to deal with him for another 3 years...

The BAD news is that we have to deal with him for another 3 years...

While what you say may be true.. There is a good chance that the GOP can milk CrapCare and lay all the blame at the feet of the Dems, thereby reaping untold political rewards.

However, CrapCare passing is still a victory for the Obama Administration and the Dem Controlled Congress..

Granted, it's a major loss for the American people, but Dems will be able to get SOME mileage out of this "win"..

The GOP will be able to get much more mileage out of a total Democrat failure.

If CrapCare passes, it won't be by any overt or covert action by a GOP'er. It will be by Nancy Pelosi et al and their "by hook or by crook" attitude.

But, to be perfectly honest, I'll take your 1 mil Quatloo bet... :D

"In many ways the campaign in Massachusetts became a referendum not only on health care reform but also on the openness and integrity of our government process. It is vital that we restore the respect of the American people in our system of government and in our leaders. To that end, I believe it would only be fair and prudent that we suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated."
-Senator Jim Webb

I think Dems are reading the writing on the walls. The American public are sick and tired of all the political BS and the crooked deals and back room bribes..

This election is a complete, utter and unequivocal repudiation of how Democrats govern..

When I win, can I get my quatloos in beer?? :D

Michale-

I've got a million quatloos that says health care reform still passes.

Why will it pass? Because I believe that Republicans really want it to pass. First, they want it because they will be able to milk it for everything in the next election - witness Brown. And second, they want it because it is no longer reform, but more of a handout to the insurance industry.

So here's how I think the script will work. Brown will not vote for it. He can't because he campaigned against it. But someone like Olympia Snowe will come out of the woodwork and vote for it. Or Republicans drop the threat of a filibuster.

Not sure how it will happen, but that's where I'm placing my quatloos. And I honestly hope I lose this bet.

Cheers

I have to admit, I am shocked as hell...

Not that Scott won.. I was pretty sure that was going to be the case..

What shocks me is how fast it went. I thought we would be up all night counting votes and dodging early morning lawsuits.

It's a whole new {political} world tomorrow...

It will be interesting to see the Democrat reaction, especially as it pertains to CrapCare.

If Dems try to ram CrapCare thru....??? Well, to be honest, I doubt that they could make things worse than they already are..

Time will tell..

Until tomorrow...

Assuming he follows thru (and I have no reason to think he wouldn't) I vote for MA Secretary of State William Galvin for an MIDOTW Award.. :D

I like it when people put duty and honor before politics..

Call me naive, but that is how it SHOULD be..

Because this image actually took root in the public's psyche about the same time Obama stopped trying to schedule town halls, and about the same time he stopped giving regular once-a-month press conferences -- say, the beginning of the summer.

Interestingly enough, Obama's last press conference was when he, while not having all the facts, stated that the Cambridge Police acted "stupidly"..

That might have something to do with why it was Obama's last Press Conference.

The Left sees Obama, time and time again, refusing to stand up and fight for their issues. Instead, they see Obama, time and time again, turn and pick a fight with The Left itself.

The Left only has to look into a mirror to know who is to blame.

Don't get me wrong. Obama is a stoopid-head for always throwing the Left base under the bus.

But the Left shares a modicum of responsibility because they accept such punishment and then DEFEND Obama afterward..

"HIT ME AGAIN, IKE AND PUT SOME STANK ON IT!!!!"

You need further convincing??

"At the end of the day we will have a public option"
-Nancy Pelosi, 2 SEP 09

"Let's remove all doubt, we will have healthcare one way or another,"
-Nancy Pelosi, 19 JAN 10

Why ya'all still believe ANYTHING that Democrats say is beyond me..

How do you know when a Democrat or a Republican are lying?

Their mouth is moving...

"It's funny because it's true.."
-Homer Simpson

These same voices will be telling Obama tomorrow, if the Republican wins, that "the Democratic candidate was weak," or that "she lost because she campaigned badly," or that "your voters will come back to you when the economy improves, it's all about the economy."

Those voices aren't even waiting until tomorrow. The finger-pointing and back-stabbing has been going on all day...

As I said before, NO ONE does a train-wreck better (or worse, depending on your persuasion)than the Democratic Party...

Your choice, Mister President. You can either enjoy your bubble, or you can get back in touch with why you got elected in the first place. For all our sakes, I hope you choose the latter.

Hoooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

In spades!!
