The problem with the theory that Democrats will hold onto their majority in the 2010 elections is that it doesn't take into account the entire mantra of the Democratic Party since 2006..

The entire platform of the Dem Party since 2006 can be summed up thusly.

Give us control of the country. We can't possibly do worse than the Republicans.

The American people heeded that call and gave the Democratic Party government control above and beyond anything the Dem Party could ever hope to achieve.

Now the American people are asking, "What have you done with the power we gave you??"

And the Democratic Party has been found wanting.

Now I am sure ya'all can find some legislative "victories" that you can point to. There are some out there to be sure.

But have they mattered??

Can gays openly serve in the military?

No....

Are Americans better off economically?

No....

Are Americans safer here at home?

No....

The American people are worse off than they were 4 years ago.

So, why does anyone believe that the American public will give power to those who have had it and done nothing with it? Except make our lives harder and less safe..

But for putting party ahead of ego, we congratulate Senators Byron Dorgan and Chris Dodd for winning Most Impressive Democrat Of The Week. The award is Dodd's ninth, putting him in third place on the all-time rankings, and Dorgan's third, putting him in a nine-way tie for eighth place.

Too bad Harry Reid can't act in the same... er.. altruistic {sic} manner, eh??

Ya'all can kiss Nevada goodbye.. :D

Chris,

I sure hope you haven't based the MDDOTW award on that crack investigative report at the Huffington Post because that would be a big mistake.

The Huffington Post, by and large, remains quite clueless when it comes to anything that has anything to do with Secretary Geithner.

Geithner will probably be testifying about all of this later in the month ... not that anyone - especially at the Huffington Post - will care to listen.

I have to admit, the word "shrinkage" did flit through my mind when writing the intro…

I prefer the technical term.

"shrinky dink"

hehehehehehehe

Of course, in Washington, the craziness goes on as usual, forcing us once again to pay attention to various bits of lunacy. Topping the list of lunatics this week was a man arrested for jogging naked near the White House. Now, I've got to admit, although "streaking" is a fad we all wish would make a comeback, you've got to hand it to this guy for pulling such a stunt in January in Washington, rather than waiting until at least the cherry blossoms had peeked out. Jogging around The Ellipse naked in January? Brrr!

"It was **COLD**, OK!!!???"
-George Castanza, SEINFELD

:D

The final bit of lunacy is the breathlessness which awaits the decision of when to hold the State Of The Union speech, which was earlier rumored to possibly pre-empt the season-opening episode of Lost. This will likely go down in history as the first time the biggest speech the president makes each year had to worry about enraging fans of a television show.

The way I heard it, it's even MORE crazy..

The original date for the SOTU was changed because it was going to interfere with the premiere of AMERICAN IDOL.

While I agree that it's lunacy to worry about TV Show fans, I would much rather see AMERICAN IDOL fracked with than LOST...

As to the rest of your Talking Points, I'll simply refrain comment (IE Punt) until 3 Nov 2010. :D
