Very interesting perspective here..

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/12/31/AR2009123101744.html

I have a feeling that the Obama Administration's views and responses to terrorism will provide ample fodder for the McLaughlin Awards 2010...

As an aside.... It's 2010.. Where are the Aschen??? (CW, if you don't get the reference yer in deep, dare I say it... Moose Poop... :D)

Beerfest, for me, was saved by the beer. That Blue Moon and Red Stripe were involved is excellent; that a disabled black man was being helped down the steps by the good officer is even better. It was the photo-op that made Karl Rove scream and crush his glass of warm milk.

...if you get the pop culture reference, then turn up the volume and go here:

Had to laugh when I saw that "Keep your government hands off my Medicare!" made Yale's top quote list for 2009.

HawkOwl,

But the point ya'all miss is that DunselCare/Crapcare is not about Health, it doesn't Care about the American people and it ain't NOTHING close to reform.

Limit Medical Malpractice.. Allow Health Insurance programs to cross state lines.

THAT would be the basis of real reform.

But oooooo nooooooo.. We can't do that and mess with some of the biggest donors to the Democratic Party...

The ONLY ray of light that CrapCare has going for it is eliminating the pre-existing conditions issue. But even that ain't squat because of A> The Health Insurance mandate and 2> Insurance providers can charge whatever they want for pre-existing conditions.

Basically, CrapCare is exactly that.

Crap..

And every man, woman and child in America will know that they have the Democrats to thank for it.

HawkOwl -

I hadn't actually heard the term "Medicare For All" until about September or October. When I heard it, I thought "there's the slogan they should have used." But, like I said, it was September or October by that point...

sigh.

Your single best comment:
Democrats should've used as their mantra "Medicare for all."
I remember talking back to Obama on the TV screen during one of the presidential campaign "debates": "Why don't you turn to the voters and say 13 years ago we were told over and over that we 'don't want the government bureaucracy messing with my healthcare.' Well you've had 13 years of corporate bureaucracy running your health care. ARE YOU HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU GOT?"
If used as the main theme of the whole proceson what
s it would've kept people's frustrations focused
on what they already knew was the source of the problem.

With your indulgence, CW, I am going to do a little prognosticating of my own. :D

Gitmo will not close this year or any year. There will be another terrorist attack on US soil that will succeed and the Obama administration, under extreme pressure from the GOP <B>*and*</B> the American Public, will reverse the decision to close Gitmo East and create Gitmo West.

The midterms will be catastrophic for Democrats, totally erasing any gains from 2006 onwards and putting them even deeper into the minority. In the ensuing (and inevitable) finger-pointing and blame gaming, the Democratic Party will cease to be a viable political Party for at least a decade. OK, that last one was more wishcasting than anything else, but it could happen. :D It is more likely to happen to Democrats than it would to Republicans. :D

Nipplegeddon is a better name for the predicted wardrobe malfunction. Easier to pronounce.

HCGW(YTPIC) will be finally put to rest as a serious threat, not with a bang, but with a whimper. The evidence that data has been massaged, tweaked, altered and destroyed will continue to mount and the new movement will join it's "OH MY GOD, THE ICE AGE IS COMING!!!" cousin of the 70s in the annals of gross and perverse cons.

<I>The Worst Political Theater award is easy, this year. I'm not even going to dignify him by repeating his name here. Because the entire award rationale is fully self-explanatory in the two words by which it qualified:

"You lie!"</I>

Ironically enough, He Who Shall Not Be Named's words turned out to be dead on ballz accurate.

At least, using the Hysterical Left's definition of what constitutes a "Presidential Lie".

<I>Another one where explanations would be superfluous. Here's the list of runners-up, followed by the winner of Most Overrated:

Sarah Palin

Mainstream media's healthcare reform coverage

The Copenhagen conference on the environment

And the winner is…</I>

Uh!! er.... Oh never mind...

{grumble, grumble, mumble, mumble...}
