'nuff said... :D

Next ya'all will claim that the British Health Care system is awesome as well..

By all means.. I would love to torpedo THAT argument as well. :D

What part of "THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DO NOT WANT SOCIALIZED HEALTH CARE" do ya'all not understand?

Hell, even with a grossly liberal President and super majorities in Congress, Democrats cannot pass even a Public Option, let alone the Single Payer system desired by the Hysterical Left.

What more "evidence" do ya'all need??

Kevin,

I agree...wholeheartedly!

Having had the opportunity, over the last few months, of experiencing our special brand of healthcare up close and real personal, I can say that I am fortunate, indeed, to be living north of the 49th parallel...at least when it comes to this particular issue.

Michale,

Just because you don't have the facts, does not necessarily mean that you can assume they are not in evidence! Geesh! :)

I might add that for every example that you can honestly provide where healthcare in Canada falls short of your ideals, I could, if properly motivated, give you 10 more that demonstrate how Americans are at a distinct disadvantage.

We Canadians do, in fact have "better care". And I'm sure Liz would agree, especially if the alternative was the dog's breakfast you Yanks have to endure.

As for talking points, I've found a good one: Canadians have a mandate. They pay for their health care with taxes. And contrary to what you might have heard in August, Canadians pay far less for better care.

Assumes facts not in evidence.

On the other hand, I can show you plenty of evidence that Canadians do NOT have "better care".

Or, we can just ask Liz.. :D

In fact, every single-payer system in the world HAS a mandate.

And yet, the overwhelming majority of Americans are against it.

Why do you think that is??

Chris, there is always a "populist wave" of one form or another in election years. The analysis of those waves has led to some pretty fancy number-crunching to identify them early; it's where the "NASCAR dads" come from.

You're right that Democrats need to get ahead of this issue, and putting Glass-Steagall back in place would be one very good way to reform the finance sector (which, like health care, is threatening to bankrupt us all).

As for talking points, I've found a good one: Canadians have a mandate. They pay for their health care with taxes. And contrary to what you might have heard in August, Canadians pay far less for better care.

Consider a Canadian family making $50,000 and an American family making the same amount at today's exchange rates. Canada's income tax rate in that bracket is 22%; it's 25% in the US. Canadians don't pay for health insurance, while that same American family has a policy costing $13,000 a year. The employer splits the costs with the employee, but clearly the American people pay more overall for both taxes and coverage.

This bill will cut the costs of coverage the same way Canada does: by mandating it.

In fact, every single-payer system in the world HAS a mandate. They just call it "taxes."

The first is the Republican Party, who has reportedly decided they are going to run next year on taking something away from voters which Democrats have given them — the healthcare reform bill.

Considering how many DEMOCRATS are speaking out against this CrapCare bill (That isn't about Health, don't care a lick and is NOTHING like reform), I would think the American public would THANK the Republican party for getting rid of it.

ESPECIALLY when one considers that each and every poll in existence shows that the majority of Americans are against CrapCare..

As to the rest....

Democrats don't stand a snowballs chance in hell of coming out of the 2010 elections with ANY semblance of coherency, mandate or organization..

When one looks at the history that Party's in the position of the Democratic Party lose seats in mid-term elections, and added to that the gross incompetence espoused by the Party and the President over the last year, the BEST that the Democratic Party can hope for is that the numerical positions of the two parties will only be diametrically reversed after the 2010 mid term elections.
