Well, just for those who are keeping score..

There won't be DunselCare on Obama's desk before the end of the year.

CHECK.

There won't be a Public Plan.

CHECK.

And there may not be any DunselCare.

Jury's still out.

So, my batting average is still pretty darn good. :D

Two points, Chris: (1) The WH "deal" with PhRMA was a matter of "divide and conquer." Health care reform has traditionally been the victim of an unholy trinity: PhRMA, AMA, and AHIP. Obama kept PhRMA sidelined with a "deal" he had no authority to make, as no deals were binding on the House or Senate. Obama successfully wooed the AMA, and separated both of them from AHIP. The strategy got us this far, which is farther than we've ever been. (2) Certain commenters can now stop calling this "ObamaCare;" not only is this a Senate project now, it's basically the template that got swiftboated in '04. Call it KerryCare.

So, what you're saying is that Leader Reid is one sly ole fox and may be due for a MIDOTW award!

I'm not exactly closely following the healthcare/health insurance reform debate - aside from reading everything you write about it...I guess I am following the debate!...but this seems to be a very interesting turn of events.

All I can say is continued good luck to all Americans in seeing improvements to the system. I sure feel extremely fortunate these days to be living where I am.

Apolgies to all -

...for the lack of a column yesterday. Driving to the airport took longer than expected, and the clock just ran out on me. Then I sat down, after midnight, to read the news, and saw the Reid compromise thing, so I just started fresh today.
