<I>While you could call HuffPost a "liberal" blog, in no way is it a "Democratic Party" blog. It's Arianna's own turf.</I>

You say "Poe TAY Toe", I say "Star Trek".. :D

Yer right, of course.

<I>Homer Simpson's immortal "To alcohol: the solution to, and cause of, all of life's problems!" </I>

You had me at "Homer Simpson"... :D

<B><I>"Democrats are about consensus more than authoririanism, and are by definition more willing to hear anyone out than Republicans. But this strength becomes a weakness when attempting to get things done, especially in the halls of Congress, as it leads to inaction, frustration, and delay — if not outright failure at times."</I></B>

A more er... diplomatic... description, to be sure. But you are correct. It does say, pretty much, the same thing. Your's just says it nicer. :D

Michale -

While you could call HuffPost a "liberal" blog, in no way is it a "Democratic Party" blog. It's Arianna's own turf.

While I would agree, in general, with the statement "Democrats' biggest strength is their biggest weakness" -- even though it sounds like an oxymoron along the lines of Homer Simpson's immortal "To alcohol: the solution to, and cause of, all of life's problems!" -- I would phrase the specific case a bit differently:

"Democrats are about consensus more than authoririanism, and are by definition more willing to hear anyone out than Republicans. But this strength becomes a weakness when attempting to get things done, especially in the halls of Congress, as it leads to inaction, frustration, and delay -- if not outright failure at times."

Different words, but I think you may even agree with that statement, too. The sentiment is the same, in essence.

You see. It's not only me that thinks that there is something fundamentally wrong with the Democratic Party.

It's a DNA thing.

Since no one here (besides the obvious :D) has wanted to put forth the view of events from the Left, I decided to wander the pages and posts of bastions of Left Thought like taylormarsh, huffingtonpost, firedoglake etc etc etc and see what the Left is thinking and how the Left is reacting to events of the last week or so.

What I have read from commentators and commenters alike simply re-enforces what I have always maintained about the Democratic Party.

Their biggest strength is also their biggest weakness which makes the Party simply incapable of providing effective leadership.

From mixed signals from Obama thru Democrats in Congress going out of their way to step on their wee-wees, it's becoming clear that Democrats in Government have that same befuddled and vacant Holy-Crap-We-Won-NOW-What-Do-We-Do?? stare that Tom Cruise had right after he got Jack Nicholson to admit that a Code Red WAS ordered.

It seems to a political agnostic that Democrats simply are incapable of understanding or of wielding the power they now have in their possession. They have a virtual lock on practically every aspect of Federal Government, yet they curtail and kow-tow as if their very existence were dependent on their political adversaries.

It's probably clear to everyone that there is no love lost between myself and the Democratic Party. While I adhere to many of the guiding principles of the Democratic Party foundation, the issues I don't agree with them are pretty defining, as far as philosophy and character goes.
I am as liberal as they come with domestic issues and as conservative as can be when it comes to Law Enforcement, National Security and Self Defense.

But my god, the "fight" that the Democratic Party puts into it's agenda is downright embarrassing. If one were to put this into the context of combat and warfare, it's as if a combat-hardened squad of crack Force Recon US Marines waded ashore for combat and met their enemy, which was a hundred 3-5 year olds whose biggest concern was that Tommy got a smidgen more ice cream than everyone else. Yea, sure the Marines would win the day, but it wouldn't be the victory that would ring out in the halls of Stov'o'kor. It would be an downright embarrassing.

If the Democratic Party wants at least a snowball's chance in hell of retaining their majority beyond the 2010 elections, they better do some real soul-searching, put forth their beliefs, stand behind them and actually fight for them.

<B>"It's time to ask yourself, what you believe!"</B>

Let me ask something here.

The common theme around here the last month or so has been the demise of the Republican Party. Words like "last legs" and "becoming irrelevant" were bandied about with barely restrained glee.

So, now I am confused.

If the bandied words are accurate, why is it that Democrats are capitulating at every turn??

Why is it that Democrats can't seem to get their white flags up fast enough??

Why is it that on nearly every point in DunselCare to date, Democrats roll over and beg not to be hit anymore?

<B>"Can you explain this, Colonel?"</B>
-Tom Cruise, A FEW GOOD MEN

Just curious as to the thoughts of those that bandied about the afore mention words. :D

It's really REALLY tough to be right all the time. :D

OK, OK.. MOST of the time. :D

<B>
WASHINGTON – Bowing to Republican pressure and an uneasy public, President Barack Obama's administration signaled Sunday it is ready to abandon the idea of giving Americans the option of government-run insurance as part of a new health care system.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said that government alternative to private health insurance is "not the essential element" of the administration's health care overhaul. The White House would be open to co-ops, she said, a sign that Democrats want a compromise so they can declare a victory.

Ya have to wonder about an alleged Democratic Party blog that allegedly espouses the Liberal agenda, but then bans people who don't toe their Party Line.

My posts violate no agenda other than to speak frankly and factually. Yet, I am attacked and castigated with the most puerile and juvenile of personal attacks and that is allowed to stand.

I guess the majority of allegedly Liberal blogs espouse the attitude of "do as I say, not as I do"..

I realize that the vast majority of you aren't in a position or of an inclination to say squat about such censorship.

I understand and forgive.

It is hypocrisy in the extreme for the Left to castigate the Right for these aggressive in-your-face tactics. These tactics were honed and perfected by the likes of Move On and Code Pink. And NOW the Left is up in arms because the Right has adopted these tactics??

How is this not the very definition of hypocrisy??

I do have to make one correction, though. I have been referring to this "Health Care Reform" (that isn't healthy, doesn't care and is NOTHING like reform) as "ObamaCare". This is misleading, as it implies that Obama has anything to do with it. As you so often point out, Obama doesn't seem to be willing to put his stamp on any of it. To the detriment of the legislation, to be sure.

So, we must employ another term for this legislation.

I think "DunselCare" would be the most appropriate moniker.

Let's face it. There simply will not be any reform legislation on the Health Care issue coming in Obama's first (and likely, ONLY) term.

I will be surprised if this Congress actually gets ANYTHING to Obama's desk. But, whatever it is, you can bet that it won't be reform by ANY stretch of the definition or imagination.

The Right is already taking First Blood by forcing the Senate Finance Committee to drop the alleged "Death Panel" provisions of their version of the legislation. Talk about ball-less

I said it before and I'll say it again. The Democratic Party's biggest strength is also it's biggest weakness and that is what makes the Party ill-equipped to show true leadership.

Nice summation of the situation. We Canadians can only shake our heads at the influence your cynical crackpot leaders (Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Beck etc.) hold. The GOP spokespeople (Grassley, Boehner, and their ilk) are little better. As I wrote to a friend, thank God as far as I know we've got no one up here who inhabits the same intellectual sty.
