Taking emotion out of the decisions is a laudable goal..

Any decisions made based on emotion is, pretty much, the WRONG decision to make.

That's one of the biggest problem facing Democrats. Many MANY of their hot-button-issue positions are based in emotion, not logic.

To be fair, the GOP have a few emotionally-based positions as well. Religion being the first and foremost detriment to logical and rational thinking. It's hard to be logical and rational while at the same time professing a belief in and devoting one's entire existence to Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.

It would appear that certain members of the committee were performing an act just for their base that was indeed farcical.

Yea, that seems to happen every time there is a SCOTUS confirmation process. This time around, it's the GOPers that are being farcical. Last couple times, it was the Democrats that were being farcical.

Welcome to Washington DC.... :D

This reminds me of the old axiom "garbage in, garbage out" when you program comupters and robots. However, this seemed true of Senators also when I listened to some of the questions put to Sotomayor this morning during the hearing. It would appear that certain members of the committee were performing an act just for their base that was indeed farcical.

Though creative, this is still serious commentary, Chris. In fact, I'd say you've hit some of the best themes in sci-fi with this vignette -- I detect shades of Robocop and Dr. Moreau.

If you were to take this to longer-form, of course, the robot would be subjected to a Senate hearing with hilarious results.
