Postulate a scenario where, in early 2008, President Bush had decided that, he wanted to be President for another couple decades. And he took steps to make that happen.

The SCOTUS ruled that such an act is illegal and that Bush simply could not do that.

Bush ignored that and went ahead with the attempt.

According to Obama, Bush is the "democratically elected Leader" and that is the end of that.

Should we accept that, just because Bush was "democratically elected"??

Of course not...

Such an attempt that flies utterly and completely in the face of the law is definitive evidence of mental instability and Bush would be removed for the good of the country, in accordance with our laws, right??

<B>"What's good for the goose is NOBODY'S business but the ganders!!!"</B>

@CW

Simple...

The Honduran government followed their Constitution to the letter. It was the Honduran Supreme Court that issued the orders to the military when it had appeared that the President had lost his mind.

This isn't a "military" coup. This is a "coup" of the Supreme Court and the military is simply following the lawful orders of the courts.

Everything that has been done has been done according to the law and the Constitution of Honduras.

There are even reports that President Zelaya had resigned in exchange for being able to leave in exile to Costa Rico.

As I said, everything has been according to the law of the land.

And yet, President Obama sides with Castro and Chavez and declares that the "coup" was illegal.

http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUKTRE55S5J220090629?sp=true

What would I have Obama do??

Obey the rule of law which he CLAIMS to hold in high regard.

When there is absolutely no reason NOT to, respect another country's Constitution.

And for Chreest's sake, don't take the side of terrorist scumbags like Chavez and Castro.

You can bet that any side that has the likes of Chavez and Castro as the spokespersons is the WRONG side to take...

As I mentioned, it seems Obama is taking some real licks these days. Achmedjihadist is give Obama the bird, Kim Ill Son is DARING Obama to try something and now Obama is in a 3-way with Castro & Chavez. The TweedleDum and TweedleDumber of Central America.

It's not looking too good for Obama these days...

Um, so what exactly would you have Obama do or say at this point?

I have to admit, Obama is slowly losing ground with me.

Something is very VERY wrong with our President if he sides with the likes of Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro.

This will definitely NOT help Obama fend off claims that he is a socialist/communist.

It'll be interesting to see how this Honduras thing pans out.

I have been waiting for Leviathan for decades now and come to the conclusion that it is just like the flying cars I was promised as a child.

WHERE ARE MY FLYING CARS?? WHERE IS MY SOCIALIST WORKER'S PARADISE??

Way WAY back when, a very respected and very intelligent political commentator posed the question, "So Is Torturing A Daughter OK?"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chris-weigant/so-is-torturing-a-daughte_b_29538.html

Ironically enough, during the ABC HealthCare Infomercial, President Obama was asked a similiar question. In essence, if a public plan was approved would President Obama allow his daughters to be treated under the Public Plan.

Ironically enough, President Obama gave the same answer that I gave that very talented (pardon me while I rub this brown stuff off my nose :D) political commentator.

When it comes to family, all other considerations are out the window.

But, in this case the totally understandable response is lacking.

If the "public plan" is not good enough for MY daughter, why would I push it as acceptable for other people's daughters??

<I>The GOP is using the same scare tactics as in the past.</I>

And so have Democrats..

A perfect example of Democrat fear mongering is Human Caused Gorebull Warming (Yet The Planet Is Cooling) and the abomination that is Cap & Trade/Scheme & Ream..

But I am in perfect agreement with you regarding Campaign Reform and Lobbyists..

Strange that Lobbyists are STILL a problem. I was under the impression that President Obama was going to change the stranglehold that Lobbyists have over Congress.

At the risk of being labeled an idealist, anyone who wants to see how government SHOULD work, read Tom Clancy's EXECUTIVE ORDERS.

Now THAT is how our elected representatives SHOULD act...

If healthcare reform fails because of the influence of the industry over members of congress it will be a shame and I hope there will be consequences. This conflict of interest should highlight that campaign financing is also in need of reform. It should not cost so much to get elected and our representitives and senators should be looking out for the public's interests - not their own and those of the medical industry.

Your Ronald Regan points really show how little has changed in politics here in the US. The GOP is using the same scare tactics as in the past. I can only hope that this time they will not succeed.
