Crist is EXTREMELY popular here in Florida. Unless it is discovered that he is a secret cross-dressing Islamic terrorist, there really isn't any way he could lose the Senate race. And, as everyone knows, I really don't care a fig about Party. So, under these guidelines, and looking for a candidate that "plays well with others", I would vote for Crist if the election was today. OTOH, I don't want to see the GOP go under. As much as I disapprove of anything to do with political parties, I know that in this country, they are important for checks and balances. And let's face it, the Dem Party is NOT the best choice as leaders in a wartime situation. As a whole, Dems think with their hearts and not their heads. Under peace time conditions, that would be an advantage and this country could flourish. But in wartime??? Uh-uh... Very dangerous... As I have mentioned before, I don't think the GOP is in any danger of imploding or disappearing off the face of the political landscape. The pendulum ALWAYS swings both ways. 3-4+ years ago, Democrats couldn't hope to win an election as a county dog-catcher. Now they are running things and badly, I might add. The pendulum will swing back in a few years (probably sooner) and it will be 1994 all over again.
