LewDan,

Time will tell..

There is a good Star Trek book that deals with what is happening in the here and now.

It's called THE ROMULAN WAY and it details the rise of the Romulan Empire.

It's uncanny how the much similarity between what is depicted in the novel and what has occurred in the last 10 years...

Especially when one considers that the novel was written in 1987..

It's a good read, even if you are not a Star Trek fanatic... :D

I am willing to bet you that the GOP, as you have come to loathe will be resurgent in the coming elections.

The Democrats seem well on their way to proving beyond ANY doubt that they are more equipped and inclined to simply point fingers and wallow in the hatred and bigotry of the past and have no idea how to govern a nation. Especially a nation at war..

I think ya'all are going to be very unpleasantly surprised in the next 3-5 years...

Excellent, Chris, thanks.

Michale,

You're still assuming there'll BE Republicans to look back fondly on Bush in the future?! Good luck with that!

The name and party MAY survive, but the Republican 25%ers who still admire Bush are toast. Either they survive or the Republican party does, not both.

Chris,

Judging from your First 100 Days Retrospective, you are ideally and uniquely positioned to offer the smartest and the most perceptive analysis of President Obama's first 100 days.

And, I know you'll be the only one who will mark the event at the appropriate time!

Bravo! That was a fascinating series.

I think this exercise of focusing on the first 100 days shows that we need to keep studing our Presidents and their administrations while they are in office and retrospectively because it is important to have a record that reflects the change over time of how they are and were evaluated. There can be no objective study of events, past or present, since the observer brings with them their own history and perspective. History is constantly being re-written as new or old evidence comes to light in the context of the present.

I intend to keep watching and I am sure that my opinions will modify over time as I see the consequences, intended or otherwise, of every decision that is made by our current president.

Nowhere is this more evident than looking back at Bush's first 100 days, because Bush will be forever remembered for: (1) September 11, 2001, (2) the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, (3) Hurricane Katrina, and (4) the collapse of the economy.

I disagree...

The first 3 are probably accurate (albeit biased), but I betcha future historians will, fairly or unfairly, pin the economic turmoil on the Obama Administration.

You would be more accurate in saying, " because Bush will be forever remembered, BY DEMOCRATS, for: (1) September 11, 2001, (2) the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, (3) Hurricane Katrina, and (4) the collapse of the economy."

For Republicans, Bush will be more remembered for keeping America proper safe from terror after the devastating 9/11 attacks.
