I am also constrained to point out that the Democrats seem to be using the economic emergency in the same manner that the GOP used the National Security emergency.

Mainly to expand the powers of the given party in power at the expense of every day Americans.

Given my training, experience and background, I can (more so than most around here) understand the reasoning behind the GOP's "power grabs"...

But I can't see any rhyme nor reason behind the Democrat's power grabs, other than simply to consolidate governmental power...

I ask again....

Where's the change???

I just have one question and one question only.

Where is the change??

Other than the speed of which corruption and partisan politics is being played out, as CW notes, I really don't see much difference. The Obama administration has adopted many of the old administrations tactics and procedures that were decried and castigated by Democrats.

So, exactly what has changed??

Anyone?? Anyone?? Beuhler??

OsborneInk -

I really can't claim originality for the thought. I personally saw it in many comments to blogs this week, and thought it really summed up the argument. Another good point, one that didn't make it into the article, is "if you're only doing one thing at a time, you can either fail or succeed. If you're doing a bunch of stuff, it's more balanced and if you fail one thing it's not as big a deal." Seemed like a good point, to me.

I've been watching Washington for decades now, and I have NEVER seen them move this fast before. As I stated, I don't think they'll be able to keep up this pace throughout the summer, but man, I've been impressed at the sheer speed they've managed so far.

PS: Chris, a few minutes after I posted the previous comment I found one of your TPs already in use at Talking Points Memo.

"The Case for Walking and Chewing Gum" is featured in their Progress Report.

That was fast, Chris!

The GOP has been completely emasculated. Barack Obama took the high ground with a campaign message of hope and peace; the GOP couldn't offer anything but more of the same. Now that Obama is succeeding, they have nothing left but "no."
