Transparency??

Do you mean the "transparency" where Obama promised to have all bills put to the public on the web for 48 hours prior to the vote?

Or the "transparency" where it was promised that bills and laws would NOT be enacted behind closed doors and yet, this Stimulus bill was done EXACTLY that way...

Please explain to me why it is that the Stimulus HAD to be passed without ANYONE from Congress being able to read it, yet it was a full NINETY SIX hours between the time of passage and the time it was signed...

Can anyone explain that "logic" to me??

Elizabeth Miller -

Biden was with him on the Denver/Phoenix trip. So I assume he's in Canada with him as well, eh?

Heh heh. Sorry, couldn't resist.

:-)

I hear the two are fairly popular up in the Great White North...

Osborne Ink,

Do you suppose that Obama could somehow relate every single agenda item to a budetary bill?

I like the way you think!

I really like the reconciliation concept.

The only thing that may prevent President Obama from using it...besides the aforementioned weak link...could be his not entirely misplaced fear of waking up the next day to media headlines like "Obama Killed Bipartisanship!"...because that's precisely how the incompetent and inept media/blogosphere/punditocracy (present company excepted, of course!), not to mention the GOP, would interpret it...and would keep on interpreting it until it turns into "Obama Worse Than Bush!" After two years of this, who knows what might happen in 2010.

But, I'd be willing to bet that Obama/Biden don't scare easily.

Think on what this means: Obama rams his entire agenda through Congress, beats the GOP on health care, and the economy rebounds by November 2010. It is possible that we're seeing the end of the GOP as we know it.

I agree the Sen. Reid is the weak link. However, if President Obama can keep the process transparent and keep control of the message this may be the way to go. Especially since the GOP has been using this method under the Bush Administration they should not be able to whine too much without it being thrown back in their faces.
