Michale -

Actually, that's exactly what happened. The measure was suggested by someone as a joke. A web page quickly followed. The joke grew, and to feed it, they started collecting signatures on street corners to get it on the ballot (dressed as Uncle Sam, in some cases). Enough SF folks thought the joke was funny enough to get on the ballot, but I guess not enough of them thought it was actually funny enough to vote for.

Democracy, ya just gotta love it sometimes!

Yea, I caught that after I made my comment...

Seriously, though...

Looking at it objectively, don't you think it's kind of childish?? It's like something the jocks would do to a geek in high school.

"Hay, let's name this urinal after dweebie over there!!! Yuk, yuk yuk!! Gee whiz, that sure was funny, huh!!??"

I dunno.. I just don't get it.. But, what else is new.. There's a lot about these neo-"liberals" that I just don't get..

Michale -

I posted a link you'll be interested in reading over on the HuffPost comments, about the Executive Orders thing.

The people of SF voted AGAINST the renaming, by a big margin (70/30, I think).

To everyone else -

I know I've been lax on answering comments here, and I promise I'll go through all of them later today. Still recovering from the election, but I'm almost fully back up to speed... anyway, thanks for your patience.

And, a disappointment to many, San Francisco did not vote to name its new sewage plant after George W. Bush.

San Francisco didn't VOTE?? Or did San Francisco vote AGAINST it? That's a distinctive difference..

Personally, the action is childish, immature and simply shows the partisanship and bigotry of the Left...

Present company excepted, of course.. :D

But I have to say, it sure didn't take long for Democrat hypocrisy to rear it's ugly head..

President-Elect Obama stated the other day that he would use Bush's Executive Orders to bypass Congress to get things he wanted done.

And not a peep from Democrats over that. I mean, honestly.. Democrats screamed hysterically when Bush acted unilaterally, but when their man does it, it's perfectly OK...

How is this NOT hypocritical??

Michale...
