270, 340, 538... I don't care, the number doesn't matter as long as its 270 or more.

Chris, as you know from my comments here and at HuffPo I've been predicting an Obama landslide for a long time -- even when McCain got his "bounce." There are many reasons why, barring some unforeseeable disaster, Obama will come to the White House with a genuine mandate. Chief among these is the fact McCain's "kitchen sink" strategy not only smacks of desperation, but relies on worn-out canards and negativity -- both huge turn-offs for swing voters. There are many reasons why McCain's numbers are "falling off a cliff," including the Wall Street meltdown, but I think there's one HUGE variable that's gone under the radar so far -- with enormous potential impact. I saw it in the debate last night, and I've blogged about it on my own site: http://www.osborneink.com

Because you like stats so much, Chris ... here's an interested site that maps government data by red and blue states.

For example:

% of Adults over 65 Who Have Had All of Their Natural Teeth Extracted:
http://www.redbluestats.com/dental_health:_percentage_adults_over_65_who_have_had_all_their_natural_teeth_extracted

And, Michale, to show I can make fun of blue states too:

Percentage of Adults Reporting Poor Mental Health:
http://www.redbluestats.com/mental_health:_percentage_adults_reporting_poor_mental_health

Your Stat Man,

That all sounds pretty good to me but, I wouldn't bet the farm on a landslide - no matter how it's defined - especially if the farm happens to be in Iowa.

That said, I really do get the impression that Independents and even moderate Republicans may be breaking for Obama...due, in no small part, to his running mate.

The undecided voter, on the other hand, is a whole other animal. In my view, any voter who is seriously still undecided at this late stage can surely be considered as in the can for McCain...if you know what I mean, and I'm sure that you do!
