Wow. Am I the ONLY person to get a positive score in the Economic Left/Right part of the test? Even Michale's more economically liberal than I am. However, I'm proudly further left on social issues. Nowhere near you lefties, but hey, I never claimed I was a liberal (or even a libertarian, though I suspect that my scores below are pretty much the archetype for what a libertarian is)

Economic Left/Right: 2.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.51

The Obama campaign is making personal attacks on Palin the central part of of their strategy..

It's going to cost Obama AND downstream Democrats the elections...

<I>
I've done the test before (the last time I did it, it was openly a recruiting tool for the Libertarian Party, that one may still be around, I don't know), this time it came up:

Economic -6.25
Social -6.72
</I>

Holy crap, Chris!!!

Yer one step shy of a extremist radical!!! :D

I guess claiming I am more liberal than you is a moot point! :D hehehehehehee

<I>
Haven't looked into the flag thing, but saw a headline which stated the Dems were calling the story moose poop, and saying the GOP just made it up. Don't know who is right, just tossing that out there.
</I>

Actually, the Dems response is that the flags weren't "thrown away". That the GOP "took the flags".. Which is fishy. Because that is theft.. And if there was actually a THEFT, then the Dems would be screaming to high heaven.

The best course of action for the Dems would be to admit that some low level flunky screwed up and those flags should NOT have been thrown away.

But to try and claim that the GOP "stole" the flags opens up a WHOLE can o worms that would be better left closed.

Of course, the WORSE thing that the Democrats could do is say, "Yea, we threw them away. What's the big deal???"

I don't THINK that the Dems are THAT stoopid...

<I>
Did anyone else find that screen shot of Palin and the moose as funny as I did, or am I just loopy after two weeks of conventionpalooza?
</I>

I can see how one might see moose poop if one was inclined to look for it. :D

But to me, it's just a rock.. :D

I respect your point of view, as I have heard it from many Democrats. But I disagree. Maybe Obama should refrain from painting Palin with a broad brush, but Biden and everyone else should not. Here's <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dave-johnson/what-is-obamas-story_b_124391.html" rel="nofollow">an article</a> which explains why I feel this way. She's being presented with a storyline which is pure mooseshit, and it needs to be pointed out now. We've only got two months to go, folks.

Luckily, Obama is <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/06/obama-takes-first-direct_n_124507.html" rel="nofollow">hitting back</a>. Here's the best quote (straight from #6 above):

"I know the governor of Alaska has been saying she's change, and that's great," Obama said. "She's a skillful politician. But, you know, when you've been taking all these earmarks when it's convenient, and then suddenly you're the champion anti-earmark person, that's not change. Come on! I mean, words mean something, you can't just make stuff up."

Woo hoo! Don't attack Palin personally, don't attack her as a woman, attack her on the issues, and the false picture they're painting of her. Those are valid targets.

I kind of agree that if the news was all "Obama's 15 points up" that it might dampen enthusiasm, but sooner or later someone in the media's going to have to point out "well, Obama has led pretty much every poll for months now".

I answered your numbered post over at HuffPost (did the comments there first today), but one more thing -- I guess Palin's not "ready on day one," huh? Scared of the media doesn't really cut it with most voters. Most people know the difference between some "angry left" blogger (thanks, George W. Bush, for the shout-out!) and the mainstream media. And the networks, at least, after acting like idiots for the first few days (the baby story) are now asking solid questions that Palin has no answers for. This is going to hurt the McCain campaign one way or another over time.

I've always said Libertarianism is where the misfits from the Right and the misfits from the Left get together to hang out.

But then, I may be full of moose poop.

Interesting...   :D

MY political compass

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.05

<I>
"I don't know what all that means, but it sounds pretty bad."</I>

1) It's my understand that Party Conventions are not designed to "introduce" the Candidates to the American Public or to put forth the candidates platform. I believe it has been stated that the Conventions are where the candidates are "introduced" to their party and a way of energizing the party base.

Many MANY political pundits have described the Party Conventions as a "coronation" of the nominees.

This being the case, is it really so strange that there wasn't much policy discussed??

2) If ya'all could get passed the partisan bigotry and look at O'Reilly objectively, you would find that he is, more often than not, a very fair person. At least, within the confines of his own beliefs. His interview with Obama simply proves that. As far as not making Palin available immediately for interviews, I mean seriously.. Can you BLAME the GOP?? She has been all cut up from the unfair personal and family attacks and the gross innuendo's and such and ya'all get upset because the GOP won't just toss her to the sharks?? Frankly, the media has behaved so badly they don't DESERVE to interview Palin. The public can meet the VP nominee just fine in appearances across the country. Frankly the media DESERVES for the GOP to give them the big fat finger..

Besides, how long after Obama became a candidate did he "deign" himself to appear on Fox News?? Months?? Many MANY months??

And ya'all are miffed because the bruised and bleeding Palin and her family are not thrown to the sharks within a couple weeks??

Shirley you jest....   :D

3) Assumes facts not in evidence...

4) Once again, we see the "Democrats Must Campaign Like Republicans To Win" advocacy..

In football, if the coach of one team has to steal plays from the other team to win, what does that say about the playbook of that coach??

5) I don't see that the GOP is laughing at John Q Public. I see the GOP is laughing at the idea that a community organizer has the same executive experience as a city mayor. Or a state governor.

And frankly, such a comparison IS laughable.

6) Dunno much about earmarks and am too lazy at this time to research it. So I'll give ya this one.. :D

7) This library thing, as I have already mentioned, is ridiculous.. When you have Democrats screaming hysterically to ban and censor right wing talk radio for the COMPLETELY unproven connection to two (count them.. TWO) random acts of violence, then the Democrats MIGHT have a leg to stand on, with regards to banning and censoring.. I won't even bother to mention how many times Liberal groups have tried to ban classic literature such as Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn for it's politically incorrect racial views. Nor do I need to bother mentioning how liberals were up in arms at Disney's plans to re-release SONG OF THE SOUTH because of it's politically incorrect racial stereotypes.

So, slamming Palin and the GOP for library book banning is a non-starter from the word go, since it's obvious that the Democrats are hip deep in banning and censorship..

Which simply goes to prove what I have been saying all along..

There really is no difference between Democrats and Republicans insofar as the actions that they will stoop to to screw over their fellow Americans across the political divide...

Michale.....

I thought the Democrats were the "green/recycling" party??

http://blogs.denverpost.com/opinion/2008/09/06/republican-recycling/

I guess that doesn't extend to recycling and/or reusing American Flags.

It's so much easier for the Democratic Party to just simply trash them, eh?

Wow... I think I see a metaphor coming on!!!

@BLaws

Another instance where you and I perfectly agree. Obama DOES need to ignore Palin.

I don't think he will though....

Heh,

Her petty nasty speech lit a fire under a lot of Dems. I managed to raise over $2000 for the Obama campaign the next day with very little effort.

http://my.barackobama.com/page/outreach/view/main/BLinCinti

It put me over my $2000 goal I agreed to when I joined Obama's Grassroots Finance Committee. Decided to try to hit $5000 by Oct 31.

I really see her being picked as a benefit to Obama. It really got people on our side fired up to make sure he wins. I had been worried that people would become complacent thinking the Republicons wouldn't turn out. But they always turn out.

I don't see them becoming complacent now. The media is going to spin everything to make this a tight race no matter what. Just yesterday they were all talking how this race is now dead even, using that CBS poll as their only talking point, even though the other polls disagreed with that one.

The worst thing that could have happened is if polls were showing a 15 point lead going into the voting booth and people got complacent thinking they didn't need to turn out. I don't see that happening now.

I have to disagree with you a lot this week CW. I think Obama/Biden need to completely ignore Palin. Stick to tying McCain to Bush. Stick to issues on the economy.

The media is in a feeding frenzy with Palin. Obama gains nothing going after her and only loses by doing so. The media is off his back now with Palin around, which is the best thing that could be happening for him. The intense spot light on him by all the talking heads was really damaging. With all of that focues squarely on Palin it lets him remain on message, which is the economy.

If Palin makes any outrageous charge then he can have a surrogate like Hillary, Sebelius, etc beat her back. But Obama/Biden need to do exactly what they are doing... nailing McCain on the economy and tying him to GWB.

I really think Palin is going to blow up on them. Sure, many in the media are making her into a rock star, and the crowds seem to love her. But they were all going to vote McCain anyway. Face it... Republicans turn out even without excitement. But the right wing talking heads are working themselves into a frenzy trying to defend her by attacking the media or trying to say the Dems are in a panic. Which means they are the ones that are most likely in a panic behind the scenes.

What I noticed the other night had me laughing hysterically... cause I knew it had to be more than just a slip. There is no way you make this kind of mistake unless the camp has been saying this kind of thing behind the scenes.....

Govenor Failin' !! That's not an innocent mispronunciation in my book.

I remember in college a guy who was like 6'5", had really long waivy uncontrollable hair, and was covered in thick body hair. We didn't really like him and called him "Wookie" or "Chewy" behind his back. I'll never forget the night my roommate accidentally called him Wookie to his face without realizing he said it. I thought of that night when Rick Davis called her Gov. Failin'.
