At the time, the drinking age in Texas was 18. Flash forward a few months to leave time in California and I couldn't get into a bar. :( Then, over to Okinawa where I could happily (???) drink again.. I like the idea of keeping the drinking age at 21, but lowering it to 18 for those in the service. I am also for harsher drunk driving penalties and even HARSHER MIP (Minor In Possession) penalties. Hell I turned 21 in Japan and we were some serious party animals. I don't think things have changed since... In my neck of the woods I was going to keg parties at 14, So 21 was a joke. As far as the drunk driving laws goes, I think they should be much harsher. Now only the lawyers are winning. Chris

However, I think that there should be a national legal drinking age because I don't think it is a good idea to have teenagers driving across state lines to buy a beer. I say make it 18 across the board and start implementing severe penalties for impaired driving, whether or not anyone is harmed or killed. And, let's just say that the kind of penalties I would suggest would mean that the offense would have a negligable probability of ever occuring again!
