"A different reason why Barack Obama should not pick Hillary Clinton as VP"

Anyone born after election day in 1958 would not have reached voting age by the
1976 election. The first presidential election they would have a chance to vote
in would be 1980 which included Ronald Reagan and George HW Bush, then again in
1984. Then GHW Bush in 1988, Bill Clinton in 1992 and 1996, George W Bush in
2000 and 2004.

That means a person born in Dec of 1958 has never had a presidential ballot that
didn't feature a Clinton or a Bush. Someone nearly 50 years old has never had
a choice that didn't include either of these two families. 50 years old! Older
than Barack Obama. This country of over 300 million should not be limited to a
choice of these two families or "other".

If Clinton is picked as VP, and Obama/Clinton wins in 2008 and 2012, that means
it won't be until the 2016 election for another chance, and likely Hillary would
be the nominee, and if she won she'd surely run in 2020.

That would mean waiting till the 2024 election, that voter would now be 66 years
old before ever getting a chance to have a real choice that didn't include these
two families.

Of course Chelsea Clinton will be 44 and George Prescott Bush would be 48...

It needs to end now.

Mjolnir -

Looks like you're right. The polls haven't even closed yet, and CNN has him with 2111 delegates. He's expected to pick up 15 or 16 from SD/MT pledged dels, and 5 supers from Montana. This will put him well over the 2118 bar. He might even make it before the polls close, without today's results.

The polls didn't get it wrong in NH. It was rigged, but the media didn't bother covering it as usual.

By Percentage

Method Hillary Clinton Barack Obama
Diebold Machines 53.23% 46.77%
Hand Count 47.47% 52.53%

By Votes

Method Hillary Clinton Barack Obama
Diebold Machines 82860 72807
Hand Count 18898 20912

By Number of Municipalities Won

Method Hillary Clinton Barack Obama
Diebold Machines 54 33
Hand Count 43 77

(Results tallied for 209 out of 236 of the municipalities.)

Polls:

The final Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in New Hampshire’s Democratic Presidential Primary shows Barack Obama leading Hillary Clinton 37% to 30%.

There were 7 other polls with basically the same spread, even Clinton internal polls (they admitted before hand)

That would translate into a 55.2% to 44.8% difference when comparing their votes.

Now look at the results:

Diebold Machines HC-53.23%, BO-46.77%
Hand Count HC-47.47%, BO-52.53%

You can not tell me that those Diebold machines didn't flip the votes from Obama to Clinton and vice versa. The polls and statistics of the actual hand count vs diebold leave little room for just being coincidence.

The polls got it right. NH was rigged. On both sides by the way.

To all,

I was going to include the following lyrics, from the "progressive rock" band Yes' song "<a href="http://www.lyricsdepot.com/yes/to-be-over.html" rel="nofollow">To Be Over</a>," but then I thought it would be too flaky. Anyway, enjoy... these would have been included in the intro paragraphs...

The phrase "to be over" just came into my mind as I was writing those introductory paragraphs... nothing against Hillary supporters, of course... (ahem)...

===============
We go sailing down the calming streams
Drifting endlessly by the bridge
To be over
We will see
To be over

Do not suffer through the game of chance that plays
Always doors to lock away your dreams
Think it over
Time will heal your fear
Think it over
Balance the thoughts that release within you
===============

Just food for thought from your humble moderator.

I concur with Stan.

And, let's hope that the decision on the running mate will be a short, sweet, and painless process - we all deserve that much.

I have not really paid attention to these last two primaries. I just want the whole thing to be over.

I think Sen. Obama will take both states.

And thanks for the great review!
