<i>I do think the democrats have a chance this year. The most telling for me is the popular vote totals for the primaries. People are voting democrat at about 3 to 2 to republicans at least as far as the presidential race is concerned. Whether that translates to congress, I have no idea.</i><i>

All things being equal, I would agree with you..

However, there was that one news report stating that 1 in 5 Democrats will vote GOP if their candidate loses the primary. If accurate, then that simply dooms the Democrats. Even if it is not accurate and they don't actually vote GOP, it's entirely possible (even likely) that supporters of the losing Dem candidate will simply not vote. I cannot see how the Democratic Party can cajole Obama supporters to rally around Clinton or vice versie in the time frame between the Convention (August) and the Election (November). That's what??? Just 2 short months.. I just don't see how it can happen...

</i><i>Personally, I think Obama will mop the floor with McCain if he gets the nomination. I think conservatives hate McCain enough that though they may not vote for Obama, they won't contest him either. They will stay home or protest vote someone other than McCain.</i>

I would tend to agree, although I don't think Obama could "mop" the floor with McCain. Obama has a very good chance of beating McCain. Hillary has none.. I am leaning towards Obama myself, but he has to impress me with his National Security picks. The main problem Obama has is that his biggest weakness is McCain's biggest strength.. National Security & Defense... And, in time of war, that will be the deciding issue..

<i>. I will probably have to stop watching TV and tune out all political news for a few months as that race could turn really, really ugly. White-water vs the Keating Five ad nauseum. They both have way too many skeletons in their respective closet and every one will be dangled before the media. *shudder*</i>

It is going to be fascinating to watch, to be sure...

Here is another possibility that just scares the hell out of me...

On the other hand if Hillery gets the nomination those same conservatives will come out in droves to vote anyone but Hillery. I would expect a much closer race.
I think you'll find that CW doesn't tend to dwell on or mention the subject of HCCC. I have my own theory about why, but it's not my place to question.. Which is why, when I do deign to bring the subject up on occasion (every time I see the word GORE :D) I tend not to dwell on it too much.

However, since you bring it up, there is so much empirical "evidence" that the Gorecle disciples spew out that turns out to be false (Polar Bears Eating Their Own, Snows Of Killamanjarroo, Greenland Glaciers, etc etc etc etc etc) that anyone who has two brain cells to rub together would not buy into the whole HCCC fad without some sort of questioning..

The entire idea that man can somehow have an impact on the Earth's climate is ludicrous... It's akin to having a guy in a little dingy in the middle of the ocean and flop out his wee wee and take a piss... Granted, it's probably not the BEST thing that could happen in the ocean. But the idea that the guy pissing in the middle of the Indian Ocean can cause tidal discontent in San Diego, CA is laughable.. So it is with the Earth's climate...

Be that as it may, IF Climate Change is brought about by man's actions, there is a simple solution... Take all the billions and billions of dollars spent on studying this White Elephant and all the billions of dollars spent on the Al Gore's Fraud company of "Carbon Credits" and create an HTIP. A Hybrid Trade In Program... Have people bring in their gas powered cars and trade them in for a Hybrid...

That alone would cut pollution in half...

It's a logical and rational approach to the pollution issue... But it won't make Al Gore rich... Which is why you won't see it proposed...

Anyways, moving on to the subject at hand... Do you think that the Democrats have a snowball's chance in hell of keeping their majority or getting the White House???

But Of course I'm willing to go down that road. I'm also happy to wait until Mr Weigant posts an article on a more closely aligned subject.

Just note: "unequivocal" and "proven" have very specific meanings in science and if it's not covered by the major journals, the science is probably not there yet. And to say man or the sun are entirely responsible for the climate is almost certainly bad or agenda driven science. It's a matter of how much is the sun or man is effecting the climate not if.

And those "TONS" of articles had better be a hell of a lot better than the junk science link you already posted. That one was stereotypical of every "debunking climate change" article I've come across: Right leaning political/economic think tank posts article by their outspoken and suspiciously funded contrarian scientists from rinky dink U...

You really want to go down that road?? I have TONs of peer-reviewed and unequivocal articles that show the world-wide temp has actually cooled in the last decade. This, despite the levels of CO2 rising...

The Gorecle's ENTIRE HCCC (Human Caused Climate Change) con is based on ONE thing and ONE THING only.

<b>Rising CO2=Rising Temps</b>

But as the peer-reviewed scientific evidence clearly shows, there is no causality connection between CO2 and temperature. It is the sun, not man's presence that virtually single-handedly, controls the Earth's climate. This is a scientifically PROVEN fact..

If you really want to discuss this, I would be ECSTATIC to do so.. But it's probably not fair to monopolize CW's blog here.

You name the place and I'll be there. :D

Wow. A free market aimed conservative libertarian think tank doubts global warming!

In other news, the sky is blue and water is found to be wet.

Get this story in a hard science peer reviewed journal such as Nature or Science and I'll take it seriously. Whether for or against man made climate change, an article needs to be based on hard science or it probably has an agenda.

It looks like EDWARDS is not going to be a Trailblazer

<i>"John Edwards is unlikely to endorse either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton before the nomination is decided, according to interviews with several members of the former candidate's inner circle."</i>
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0308/9162.html

I wouldn't look to Al Gore for any kind of peep either. He's keeping a real low profile due to his Human Caused Global Warming scandal being picked apart lie by lie...

I honestly feel sorry for ya'all Dems... I honestly think ya'all had the best in Obama... Unfortunately, you had the WORST in Hillary Clinton... I think that future history will show that the 2nd great GOP takeover will be solely caused by Clinton's greed and lust for power..

I only have time to address one point. We're in the middle of LOST and it's taking all of my attention to keep up...

Yea, McCain made a bonehead mistake about Al Qaeda in Iran...

Yet, Obama says he is willing to sit down with the President of Canada...

'Nuff said....

Now, back to LOST.. If it's FRIDAY, it must be Jack's day.. Or Kate.. Or Sawyer.. Or ?????
With all this time-jumping, you would think they could get around to telling us WHO ended up as the Dem nominee, eh???   {sigh}
