<description>I understand where you are coming from. It just seems to me, given that you mentioned several times the bad things that can happen once the US leaves, you are making the case (however unintentional) for a continued US presence in Iraq.

I am pretty sure that&#039;s not your position, but you do make an admirable case for it. :D

On another front, did you catch the McCain/Obama back and forth the other day??

Obama said that he is willing to put US troops back into IRAQ if Al Qaeda appears to be setting up a base there.

Mac responded that Obama should pay attention to current events. Al Qaeda IS in Iraq...

Obama came back with the usual Dem rhetorical nonsense (which I thought was pretty much beneath him.) about Al Qaeda only being there because of George Bush yada yada yada yada....

Obama really needs to get his facts straight. There is documented proof that even the 9/11 Commission accepted that Al Qaeda was in Iraq long before the Mar 2003 start of the Iraq war...

Obama needs to recognize that his weak flank is National Security and Defense and get some people in to advise him that are NOT drawn from the crop of defeatist Dems... Obama&#039;s BEST bet is to bring in a military advisor who thinks JUST LIKE THE GOP with regards to the Iraq.

If he doesn&#039;t, Mac will sweep the floor with Obama in the General...

		<description>Michale -

I actually was trying to give a &quot;Reader&#039;s Digest&quot; version of how I see the Big Picture in Iraq without drawing much of any conclusions. I didn&#039;t want the article to be impossibly long, so I reduced it to analysis only, without any sort of conclusion. I know I&#039;ve been focusing on the election to the exclusion of a lot of things, and with a sort of breathing period before next Tuesday, I thought I&#039;d sneak in a quick comment on Iraq.

But that doesn&#039;t mean you aren&#039;t free to draw your own conclusions...

		<description>Ya know...??

The one overriding theme I took from your article is all the bad things that are going to happen once the US leaves..

It seems to me that you have made a great case for keeping the US in Iraq until things are better..
