Chris,

At this point, it is going to take the Republicans to end the war, and that is only going to occur when enough of soldiers have died that their political careers could be ended.

It is at that point that if every media outlet in the United States doesn't point out that these same Republicans who want out of the war were the same Republicans that kept us in the war until that many soldiers were dead... I'll scream.

The Democrats have now become lip-gloss on this pig. They aren't going to stand up. So, once again, America gets to wait on the Republicans to be the ones who govern. Pretty pathetic when they are the minority party, actually.

Val -

I'm not quite ready to give up on the Democrats in Congress. I think they could actually make this happen, if (of course) they show some backbone in doing so.

Of course, I might feel differently this fall... we'll see how it all works out.

Hi Chris,

I don't think Congress will agree to anything other than what the President wants them to agree to. We voted many of them in to "stand up to W" and what we got was a Congress full of wimps and wusses who, in spite of lip service, promptly turned into time-wasing Bush yes men/women. The President (and now evidently the Vice President) each has his own agenda and ending the Iraq war isn't on either.

That's what I have always liked about you, CW.. You put the good of the country before the good of your party.
